Welcome to EDIT 5500

What are your hopes and fears about K-12 technology integration? What are your expectations for this course?
------------------------------------------------------------

In this course you will continue an exploration of K-12 technology integration that was begun in your EDIT 2000 course. You will focus more on project development and less on skill acquisition in this course. Our focus for this semester will be to develop a "technology-enhanced learning environment" for the classroom of your choice. As the semester progresses, you will begin to see that the definition of the word "classroom" is broader than you might have once thought.

To prepare you for the development of your technology-enhanced learning environment (TELE) you will study different forms of learning environments and learning theories. You will investigate the development of learning activities using a process called ADDIE. With a group, you will explore new digital media and how it can be used to enhance learning environments. You will visit classrooms and meet with guest speakers to help to understand how to incorporate the skills you acquired in EDIT 2000 in order to develop your TELE. You will focus your energies on research, observation, and project development to create your TELE.

The syllabus will give you additional information about our course. The calendar will give you an idea of what will be discussed during each class meeting. The projects page will help you to complete the course assignments on time. This course weblog will help to keep you up-to-date on classroom discussions, etc.

During class on Thursday we will complete a short review of ISTE standards and LoTi levels to shore up our foundation on technology integration begun in EDIT 2000. In order to prepare for Thursday's class, please do the following:
1. Read the articles provided in class.
2. Subscribe to Edutopia
3. Review the syllabus and calendar as we will be finalizing dates and projects during the next 2 weeks of class.
